  1. Beyond fixing the site registration issues, I added a new theme to Ad Astra. Inspired by the Witch Head Nebula, with a public domain image from NASA used as the header, it's perfect for anyone who likes a bit of green! You can find it over on the drop-down menu, along with Fire and Void.I also switched the default display back to Fire, but you can change your themes to whichever you prefer!
  2. Archive news: All right. So, I've completely removed the registration action as well as the link on the archive's login page. In its place, I've put up a link on the menu to a Google form. This way, all registration from here on out has to go through that. If any of my admins/moderators wants added to said form, I'll do that; if not, I'll handle it myself, since I have it set to e-mail me when there's a response. But since there's no automated registration now, there will be no more people who can directly sign up for Ad Astra just to spam bomb us.
  3. Archive update: Added a bunch of offender domains to Ad Astra's super special spam trap. Every story has also now been gone through by hand and any legacy spam reviews from the dark days of 2016 are now gone.
  4. The invite link should be permanent!
  5. Ad Astra Fanfic Teddog recommended it as a way to keep in touch, and since I'm constantly signed onto Discord (if not always on the computer), I figured 'why not?' Which is pretty much the same reasoning I had when I initially created this joint, so it's a philosophy that hasn't led me astray so far. XD So, even if you're not into fanfic anymore, or Trekfic, feel free to come say hi. Hang out. Mute when you're not interested in chatting. Unmute when you want to shoot the bull. If you are still into Trek fanfic, you can chat about it, too!
  6. Forum update: We're now running 4.4.8 of IPS, which apparently was primarily a security and bug update.
  7. I definitely like the look of this one better. Reminds me a bit of our old phpBB forums.
  8. You are exceptionally awesome, Mike.

We do. And when it comes time to promote, we can have a cage match now.

Congratulations on your Deputy Archivist (jg) title. This is, of course, because spearheading a major project like Boldly Reading should have some muscle behind it.
  11. Just a note that our forums are on a different server, and will still be accessible. Save a direct bookmark if you haven't already.
  12. That and some of them were overdue. We started off with three admins way back in the day, and then lost one, lost a couple mods to time, finally promoted Miranda after years, needed someone to fill his slot... so, we're actually about on track.
  13. I am pleased to announce that in addition to our other promotions, we now have a Deputy in Training. He is in charge right now of the All Ages board, for the Trekkin' offspring and kidlings (if you can't see it, you need to have 150 posts to view and 200 posts to post there, which is plenty of time for us to get to know you), and I think he'll go far.  So, give it up for trekfan!
  14. THRALLS! Â Your twelve week schedule may be found here. Â Your first task, as your Provider orders, is here: Recruit more thralls! Â You may now post freely in the subforum; should you wish to come up with companions events, recreations or amusements related to the challenge, you may. Â Let the Twelve Trials of Triskelion BEGIN!
  15. During the Twelve Trials of Triskelion (and beyond, if it's popular enough), we will be having two Writer's Lounge chats on Saturday, where we can brainstorm, cheerlead, help each other through writer's block, or otherwise just talk fic and writing! So, please join us at 3:00 EDT (7:00PM GMT) during Chat I, or at 9:00PM EDT (6:00PM PDT) for Chat II. Or both!
  16. In less than twenty-four hours, the Twelve Trials of Triskelion begins.  Be there. Or the Provider will be displeased. Â
  17. Does that mean I can finally get likes too?  Woot!

  19. ...something that has been long in coming.  As of today, Ad Astra denizens, you have a new administrator. He has been faithful, diligent, hard-working, and honest. He has also brought you countless smiles, more reviews than you can shake a forest of sticks at, and on top of all that, his own writing and stable of characters. He's been around forever as your local deputy admin, a job he's performed beautifully. Mike and I agree, it's time.  Now, he's not a deputy anymore.  Congratulations, MirandaFave. You're now a full admin.   And since we promoted Miranda, that leaves us a deputy down. Obviously, given how rowdy you all are (), this can't be allowed. So, the consensus came down to one person who has been exceedingly active, has taken more monthly challenge awards than anyone else, who has been a great writer and reader both... lil black dog! From now on, she is your new deputy admin.  Congratulations, lil black dog!  On a personal note, I'm so proud of both of you, and to have you here. Thank you, for all you've done.
